about

"...a brilliant EP filled with moments of true honesty and vulnerability, not to mention excellent musical arrangements" - The Skinny

Vox Liminis is proud to present ‘Looking at Colours Again': a new EP from the Distant Voices project.

The songs on this EP were written in Vox Sessions in HMP Barlinnie, HMP Inverness, HMP Castle Huntly and HMYOI Polmont during 2018-19. Vox Sessions are short song-writing workshops developed in partnership with groups of people with criminal justice experience. The workshops are planned and facilitated by teams put together by staff in Vox Liminis.

Distant Voices brings together people who have first-hand experience of criminal justice with some of Scotland’s best contemporary songwriters. This EP follows the release of ’Not Known at this Address’[2018] and ‘Oblivion and Beyond’[2019]. The songs included here are just a few of around 300 songs written through creative connections forged within both prisons and community justice settings. Looking at Colours Again continues our exploration and collective insights into ‘coming home’.
